Today, it was like the heavens opened up and shined down on me
Guys, it took me like at least a good week of trying hard, and self talking, and all sorts of mess to get the 25 minutes in, it was more than a mental thing, I'm pretty sure I physically couldn't. Those 25 minutes were freaking ridiculous.
But, once I did, I felt like I could get to the next milestone, then the next and it's really just spiraled out of control from there haha, a total good thing. We started out tonight just trying to bust out Week 8 of C25K, where you run for 28 minutes straight. But tonight was different. Robyn, my running partner in crime, said she was going to run like 3.5 miles, I believe, I honestly didn't catch it lol, but I knew she was going to be running for at least 30-35 minutes. SO, I started making the plan to just run for however long she ran. If I got insanely tired, I could go slower. If stuff started hurting, I could walk a minute. But, I actually managaed to push through everything.
The first mile is the hardest for me. I used to think people were so full of S^*& when I heard that. I was like realllly, that's so convenient. BUT, again with all the shocking moments tonight, once that was out of the way, I really felt like I could run for a pretty long time. Since I did 2 miles the other day, that was my big goal- to just make it to 2 miles. When I looked at my MapMyRun app to check the distance I was at 2.17 miles, and I could clearly do more, so I wanted the 2.5 miles. 2.5 miles came, Robyn had .5 to go (until she made it to 4 miles!!!) so I decided now is the time to get a good 5k time in so I have something to compare it to when I do my 5k on Nov. 17th (super stoked). I busted out the N*SYNC and finished that mess, even sprinting the .10 at the end haha!
Oddly, I felt so good about myself and practically elated that I lugged myself around for 3.1 miles. I literally did not know if that would ever happen. Guys, I'm literally the girl who refused to do discus for track in high school because I didn't want to do the mile run assessment. And now I'm out here lapping it up for 3.1 miles because I WANT TO. I want to run.
Anyway, hope everyone jumps their hurdles this week. And if you stumble, that's fine too, just pick back up. It's not always 3 miles runs and sunshine!
Congrats on the 5k!! Have you signed up for any races yet? They're great motivation. I find the first part of the run the toughest as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I actually have signed up for 1 on November 17th, and I have another one December 8th. I'm pretty excited about them, I like to theme outfits any chance I can haha, so the December 8th one will be a blast! What about you? Do you have any upcoming races?
DeleteGreat Job!! I can BARELY get myself to run 3 miles! It is HARD! Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much! :))
DeleteWow! Congrats and good job!! I hate running, so I admire people that can run for miles at a time when I can barely speed walk more than 20 minutes.
