First off, may I just say, this was..... 2 weekends ago now. As I said in my last post, I got a new job (first job), and although it's great, it's also taking out 40 hours of my week lol. So, although I am normally behind on my posts, I'm now behind on everything.
Besides workouts- I'm killing workouts.
ANYWAY. Friday Night.
The four amigos, Spencer, Robyn, Mom, and myself, travel up to Maumelle for one of the best weekends. We all decided that we would get real dressed up and go out for a girl's night dinner (bucket list item #1), dessert, and swim, and in the morning we would hike Pinnacle Mountain (item #2).
I've wanted to hike Pinnacle for about a year-2 years now.
We woke up in the morning and I "carb loaded" lol with 2 delicious cinnamon rolls (I roll high on vacay guys). Then, we loaded up and trucked it to the mountain. We originally parked at the first little place we saw, which was the base summit trail. Now.... when I hike a mountain, I better be going up, otherwise, it's like it doesn't count. So, we all thought this is where we were supposed to be (no trail map, don't judge), but thankfully being 4 ladies, we had to go to the bathrooms first lol. We didn't want to mar the hike so we refused the port-o-potties and headed to the campground looking area. This was a blessing, because we grabbed some trail maps and realized that to go vertical, we needed to do east or west summit trails. We ended up with west summit, as east summit was harder. Also- I do believe it was everyone's first time to hike a mountain, definitely first time to hike up Pinnacle.
So we embark up the trail. Immediately.... just step upon steps. Then, we got veered off course and basically did a straight up dirt/rock scaling lol. LUCKILY, we did not veer off again. Most of it was marked up fairly decent. Really only 2 area were we like "What is this mess". Also, there were a TON of people climbing so that helped.
We were so winded and hot. I know that had I tried to do this 1-2 years ago, I would have been taking WAY more breaks. It was a pretty hefty journey. I was pouring sweat, as you will see later. I don't know. I honestly don't know what I thought it was going to be. And it was a great time, don't get me wrong, but I was mentally unprepared, we lacked enough water, and it was hotter than ........ yeah.
I think a late fall hike will be perfect.
So yes. I would consider it all a success, and I would do it again.
Now for the pics.
This is awesome! I love a good hike!
