Cereal Hiatus & Whole Grain Pancakes

So, as I mentioned in my last post, I have decided to up the healthy choices by adding more whole grains into my diet. Here's the story of a new change.

This morning afternoon when I woke up, I thought about going for the normal bowl of cereal. It's been a pretty relaxed 2 weeks of me not being very "on course" with what I have been eating, but nonetheless, cereal has always been a staple for me. But, I am realizing that with cereal, I never do the correct serving size. I account for the 2-3 cups I'm eating (as far as counting those calories), but it has become not worth it. Am I saying I'll never eat cereal again? Hell no. But it doesn't need to be an everday, sometimes 2x a day occurence.

So I tried something new today. I just googled "whole wheat pancakes" and stumbled upon this recipe from a site called Skinnytaste I just so happened to have everything the recipe called for and for 170 calories for 2 pancakes, I figured why not. Plus look how delicious it looks--

So I start whipping it up, just like it said to and here is what I get--
Nailed it.

But seriously, they were pretty good. I instantly thought of making them more of a peanut buttery taste by adding in some wheat germ and maybe a dallop of peanut butter, but for me they were a good start. Yay for new things!

  3. Nice! The pancakes look good! Congratulations on adding more whole grain to your diet I think it helped me lose a lot of weight. Specially rice...as I'm skipping everything that has white flour, brown rice has replaced not only white rice but also pasta (I know it's not the same but I can use my imagination!)

    Have a good one!

    1. Trust me, I am the complete same way! I just skipped the cereal aisle this week completely. If not, it seems all I want to eat is cereal!
