I've been on vacation!!! Whoo!! I love a trip, who doesn't, and this may have been one of the best all year (and I've even been to the beach this year). So what is this glorious trip you may ask? Well, mom and I decided to head out ot New Braunfels, TX to see The Avett Brothers, for the 5th time this year (yeah, they are that good, and the concerts are a blast) and to go tubing on the Guadalupe River while we were there.
Day 1- Can we start out by saying that I hate long car rides..and this was no exception. We packed snacks, but I felt hungry the whole time. We played plenty of good jams to help us stay pumped, but when we got to Austin, we went 4 miles in 1 hour. FOUR MILES IN ONE LONE HOUR. Oh my god, at that point we were so exhausted and the sun was beating my ass and just holy smokes. When we FINALLY got to the town with the Tanger Outlet Mall we were so exhausted and only had about an hour to shop after we ate. An hour to shop for my mom and I is pretty ridiculous, we needed more, especially for an outlet mall. Our shopping where I live is pretty limited. But we managed to hit up Express, Aerie, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and The Fudgery (where I tried my first truffle, and may I just say- wasn't that great). We only got some candy, and we were pretty budget friendly, considering we could have done some serious damage ;) Then, we left the outlet malls to get to our cabin at the Hideout on the Horseshow, and it was beautiful!! We couldn't tell what the view off our balconey looked like, but in the morning when we got out there we couldn't have asked for anything better!!
Day 2- Woke up and called the Whitewater Sports (not for sure if thats the exact name) and got our spot saved for the 11:30 shuttle to come by the cabin and pick us up. Unfortunately, that was a bust, because no one came until like 12:30. BUT, we did finally manage to get a bus to come and get us. They took us to the river, got us hooked up with some cloth covered tubes with the bottoms covered, and sent us on our way. It was really nerve-wracking getting in the tube. It wasn't like you went and waded out a little bit then sat down. No, no. It was a long cement ramp/decline to the river and you put your tube in the deep water, and jumped off the cement ramp into the tube. I didn't like that at all. But, we got in there and began the lazy float. I really loved it, there were a lot of spots where we had to do some intense rocking back and forth to get us up over the rocks where it was low. We only had to get out once, and one time a modern-day gentleman helped us by pulling us over them lol. He was too precious! After the 2.5 hour float we were exhausted and went to a little pizza shop and got a medium pizza, which mom and I devoured. After we finally finished the feast, it was time to get ready for the concert!!! We got dressed and went and took some pictures since everything was so gorgeous.
Then we pulled our hair into ponytails and set out for the Whitewater Amphitheater!! We got in line and had to listen to the dumbassery of fellow concert goers and they were freaking me out by talking about "the general admission is all seating" and that just doesn't fly- we like to get close. Luckily, they had no clue what they were talking about because when the gates opened we hauled butt to the side of the stage where Scott and Seth play and I was 1 person from the front. That girl moved to be closer to her friends, and I immediately nabbed up her spot. So I was FRONT ROW!!!! Mom was behind me. Once the concert started, about 5 songs later, a couple on the front decided the people next to them acting like goons were too much and they left. SO, I managed to slingshot her to the front also ;) Before she managed to make it to the front, Scott Avett (my fave) came over to our section, walked out onto the speakers, and grabbed my hand!!!! I TOUCHED SCOTT AVETT!!! It was a definite win for me! Oh he is just gorgeous and I love his dancing. I'd like to dance with him lol. Granted, for how close we were, I felt like we were pretty much doing that anyways. The whole thing was just a blast. After the concert we managed to nab up 2 water bottles for $4. That's the cheapest water I've ever bought I think lol, especially for an event. We both just passed out once we got back.
It was a great trip and here are some of the pictures:
Sounds like a fun trip Bailey! Btw what is tubing? I've never heard of it and I'm intrigued! And is the other lady in your photos your mom? Because if it is she looks like your sister! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks it was a blast, and yes that is my mom. She'll enjoy the compliment ;) uhm tubing is basically sitting inside of a circular floatie with a hole in the middle where you sit. It floats you down the lake and its really just relaxing. Hope that explains it lol
DeleteYes thank you, that explains it! It sounds so much fun, I really want to try it some day. :)
DeleteWow what an awesome vacay, so glad you had fun :)
