Corn Vs Flour Tortillas
Well it's time. Time for a new change up. I've decided, since I do eat out quite often (approx. 2-3 times a week), that I am going to adapt some better restaurant habits. The first, swapping out flour tortillas for corn tortillas. I LOVE bread. Honestly, I could eat a plain flour tortilla and be happy...well maybe two. ANYWHO!!! ;)) I like the corn tortillas, and that being said..I feel as if the time has come to become a corn tortilla consumer. This article, Corn Vs Flour, was a big influence in making this decision. I count calories, and the fact that corn is half the calories of flour, was enough to turn me to corn tortillas. I'm happy about my first step towards a healthier dining experience.
Food for Thought: What are you doing to set yourself up for success at a restaurant? Are there any food choices that you could improve on/substitute?

This is a really good point. I eat wraps probably twice a week and should really think about substituting the flour ones for corn.
ReplyDeleteAs for when I'm out I'm trying to have 2 courses rather than the 3 courses I would usually have if I was out for a nice meal. Last week I was out with my friend and I had a sweet potato salad with water (I was feeling pretty proud of myself) BUT I did go on to have a desert and a couple of cocktails :P ...not great but in my defense I have changed considerably what I would usually have. I think the main thing is that I saw this as a special treat, where as before I wouldn't have thought twice about a full fat 3 course meal with cocktails. Slowly but surely the changes are happening! :)
I think it's smart to think of restaurant eating differently than everyday eating. And I understand what you mean about the special treat! I quit ordering queso to put in my fajita as the first step, and I was looking for more ways to beat the restaurant traps of overdoing it!! And yes I used split a dessert quite often and now it's more of a rare thing to even order dessert, but it does make it more of a treat. Congrats on the 2 course btw! I love seeing how other people are making healthy choices!
