Meal Prep- 1st Timer

My mom and I decided that we've seen a lot of meal prep photos on Instagram and that could be something that we would be interested in.
Mom is a snacky eater, as in I never know where she gets a full meal from. I, on the other hand, am looking at this meal prep thinking "FOOD!!!" haha.
Having some homemade delicious food on hand that is a no brainer and perfect for me.... what's the problem.
We bought some Tupperware dishes at Walmart with no real idea as to how many we would need, or how many days/meals we were prepping for. We were pretty much just busting the gate to get the stuff and get started.

The day that Mom started cooking I had a funeral visitation to go to (great-grandfather), and the cooking was left to her. Basically food was just cooked and we would go from there.

We grilled chicken and squash, made broccoli, and cooked 3 sweet potatoes. We also made fruit preps using canteloupe, watermelon, and pineapple (no pic on that one....just imagine lol).

We began with the idea that Mom could eat lunch and dinner for 3 days on this meal. However, that may have been too ambitious for her considering her snacky habits. Instead we went with the idea that for our first time it'd be our lunch for 3 days.

I cooked up some eggs for my meals, and I had to trash that broccoli.... it was a Steamers bagged one and just bluhhhh. Replaced with watermelon ;)

I'm personally loving it, and I bought another set of containers tonight to do for next week.

I am going to try to do 2 meals a day for 5 days in my food prep, starting Monday. Food prep is not a real option for me on the weekend because I do not have access to room in the mini fridge on the boyfriend's boat. Which works out anyways because I would want a break from it as to not burn out.

I'd say meal prep was a success guys! Wouldn't you?
Excited to keep pairing up new things! I bought brown rice a while back and its going to go at the bottom of some chicken, and I can forsee lean ground turkey meat with carrots and some cheese happening.

Have you ever meal prepped? If so, tell me about it. What do I need to know?! Any tips?

  1. Great idea! I always love seeing people all organized like this - the fridge looks so pretty and life seems so easy. Finding the time to do the prep would be a pretty big feat for me! Enjoy your yummy meals!

  2. I love prepping my meals ahead of time. Also when I know it's gonna be crazy and I won't have time to really prep, I will make extra dinner and use that for lunch for the next two days :)

  3. Wow, so organised! Sounds like a really good way to stay on top of portions. I'm never organised to prep this well, but I usually do 1 or 2 meals a week where I can throw together a huge batch and freeze some or eat it for a few days.

    1. That's about what we decided. To do 3 lunches or 3 dinners at a time. It's nice to have something there to just grab though.
